Story

Herbert Marc Gottlieb, 76, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, August 9, 2008.Herb was born in Newark, NJ on June 14, 1932, the son of Jack and Sarah Gersten Gottlieb.

He attended schools in New York and New Jersey, and graduated from West High School in 1951. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Anchorage, AK. Herb later attended Bowling Green State University, where he met and Married Ramona "Rae" Knopf. She preceded him in death in 2006, after 50 years of marriage. He was employed by Dana Corp. for over 30 years, until his retirement in 1982.

Herb is survived by 2 daughters, Beth Gottlieb of Denver, CO and Pam Wilmer (Mark) of Houston, TX ; 2 granddaughters, Corinne and Lauren Wilmer; 2 sisters, Alice Tomasulo and Joan Keller; and 2 half sisters.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday in Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The family will conduct private services at their convenience.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Hagerstown Jefferson Twp. Public Library.
