I was so sad when I heard of "Mr. Harrison's" passing.  He was a great teacher who always had a smile for us.  My prayers are with all of his family.

Dear Harrison Family,

We are so sorry to learn of the death of Nelson.  He taught all three of our kids and was wrestling coach to the boys.  We admire all that he did for the students of HHS.  It's a great loss to the community.

Mike Bennett's story in the P-I is a great tribute.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Sincerely, The Mattheis family

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Harrison family.

I am honored to say that I had the privilege of having Mr. Harrison as a teacher at Hagerstown.  I have many fond memories of our days in drivers ed.  It has been 20+ years since those school days but everytime I saw Mr. Harrison in town he would always stop to talk.  Our community has lost a truly great man.

God Bless,

Thank you to Mr. Harrison for being a GREAT teacher and mentor. He will be missed! I am a better driver because of him and have always thought of him from time to time as I drive to where I'm going. Anytime I take turn too sharply, I think of him telling us he needed a spatula to scrape himself off the passenger side window. He had a great sense of humor but always took our driving seriously. I always respected him for the fact that he never let anyone be exempt from the BMV's driving test with the parallel parking!!! God Bless his family!! What an honor for him to be your dad!!!

You have our deepest sympathy at the loss of one of Hagerstown's Icon.  Nelson touched the lives and hearts of everyone who knew him.  I had him as a teacher in the 60's and my Daughter had him in the 90's.  He was always there for everyone (yes even through drivers training)  of course he probably would have rather been any where but in the car with some of us.  He will be sadly missed by all of us.
