Story

Ruth E. Crull, 95, died Friday, August 1, 2008, in Hickory Creek of New Castle.She was born near Hagerstown on October 26, 1912, the daughter of Earl and Fern Moore Steward. She was a life long resident of the Hagerstown area. Ruth was a member of Nettle Creek Church of the Brethren, where she had served as a Deacon, and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was a retired employee of Perfect Circle, and had been employed at Mahoney's Hardware. She volunteered services at Nettle Creek Thrift Shop and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a former member of Hagerstown Brotherhood and Sisterhood and, for many years, served as assistant to her husband in his performances as an amateur magician. She is survived by 1 daughter, Beverly Amick (Bill) of Hagerstown; 2 granddaughters, Denise McIntire (Greg) of Selma and Deborah Hobbs (Terry) of Hagerstown; 4 great- grandchildren, Katie and Lee McIntire and Megan and Jamie Hobbs; a sister, Ruby McCormick (John) of Hagerstown and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Crull, in 1982, and by a sister, Barbara Bogan.Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 5, in Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Burial will be in Brick Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. Monday and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday.Memorials may be made to Animal Rescue Fund, 1209 W. Riggin Rd., Muncie, IN 47303.
